A mysterious light over Thailand’s skies has sparked curiosity, with many online netizens speculating it could be a UFO or even aliens. However, experts quickly debunked those ideas.

At approximately 7:40 PM on December 21st, an unidentified light was spotted in the sky over Thailand. The light appeared as a white beam with a bright spot at its center and a mist-like halo surrounding it. It was first seen in the western sky near the position of the planet Venus, then moved northwest before disappearing. The phenomenon was witnessed in several provinces across Thailand, including Pattaya, with many netizens believing that it was a UFO. The lights were also seen on December 16th around Pattaya.

However, according to the National Astronomical Research Institute of Thailand (NARIT), it was found that at 6:34 PM (Thailand time), SpaceX, a private aerospace technology company in the United States, launched a Falcon 9 rocket from Vandenberg Space Force Base in California.

The institution stated that given the timing and the nature of the light, the light was very likely a reflection of the rocket’s exhaust plume as it passed through space.

The SpaceX mission, named Bandwagon-2, carried numerous satellites from various international clients into low Earth orbit (LEO). As space technology advances, occurrences of such phenomena are expected to become more common, NARIT concluded.

SpaceX was also likely responsible for the lights seen on December 16th locally in Pattaya, notes NARIT.
