On December 24th, 2024, the Royal Gazette announced new traffic regulations issued by the Bangkok Traffic Police Chief to enhance road safety in Bangkok. The new rules, effective immediately, set speed limits and impose noise restrictions across the city.
A maximum speed limit of 60 km/h applies to all roads in Bangkok, with exceptions for 13 major routes:
- Vibhavadi Rangsit Road
- Bang Na-Trat Road
- Srinagarindra Road
- Phahonyothin Road
- Ram Inthra Road
- Ratchaphruek Road
- Borommaratchachonnani Road
- Kanlapaphruek Road
- Romklao Road
- Suwinthawong Road
- Chaeng Watthana Road
- Rama III Road
- Srinakarin-Romklao New Road
Additionally, stricter measures apply near royal premises, where a maximum speed limit of 50 km/h is enforced, and noise is strictly prohibited. Affected roads include:
- Ratchadamnoen Nai Road
- Na Phra That Road
- Phra Chan Road
- Na Phra Lan Road
- Sanam Chai Road
- Kalayanamit Road
- Tai Wang Road
- Maha Rat Road
- Rachini Road
- Setthakarn Road
The regulations aim to reduce accidents in community and government areas while maintaining public order. Exceptions apply to vehicles with speed limits defined by other laws. Conflicting prior regulations have been repealed.
