The following is our weekly feature in which we highlight the top local stories in our area of Phuket from the past week. The number of stories differs from week to week.
These are chosen and curated by our editorial team and are designed for our readers to get a quick “catch-up” of important stories they may have missed. We publish many stories daily and it is easy to lose track of important events or changes in our area. 1. A boat capsized at Coral Island off Rawai.
The boat was waiting for tourist passengers after arriving at the beach. No injuries werr reported.
2. Phuket Immigration officials arrested a 38-year-old Iranian man at the arrival international terminal of the Phuket International Airport.
The suspect is accused of compelling others to act or refrain from acting by putting them in fear of injury to life, body, liberty, reputation, or property, or by committing violence to force compliance.
3. A tragic incident unfolded near Karon Beach as a foreign tourist was found dead after reportedly being hit by a jet-ski.

4. A tragic incident occurred at a government school on Sakdidet Road, Wichit, resulting in the death of a 10-year-old student.

The young male student was playing with two friends when he jumped and hung on a football goal bar, causing it to collapse and hit his head.
5. Authorities in Surat Thani Province announced the arrest of a transnational drug syndicate on Koh Phangan, implicating foreign nationals in drug trafficking and money laundering through nominee companies in real estate.
Authorities discovered transactions exceeding 71 million baht linked suspects over a year.
