On December 27th, 2024, Pol. Lt. Gen. Trirong Phiwphan, the Commissioner of the Cyber Crime Investigation Bureau (CCIB), led a nationwide campaign to combat online crimes during the New Year holidays.
The operation, coordinated through Facebook Live Streaming, saw officers deployed at key locations, including Siam BTS, Bang Sue Grand Station, and Chiang Mai Airport.
Given the anticipated surge in travelers and crowded countdown events from December 28th to January 2nd, the CCIB has intensified efforts to prevent crimes like online scams, fraudulent websites, and social media fraud.
A robust awareness campaign encourages citizens to install the “Cyber Check” app and complete the “Cyber Vaccine” quiz to protect against cybercrimes.
The CCIB also announced the launch of the Cryptocurrency Investigation and Innovation Excellence Center. Its mission includes investigating cryptocurrency-related crimes, developing advanced blockchain technologies, and collaborating with international partners to combat digital threats.
Pol. Lt. Gen. Trirong emphasized the importance of public vigilance and swift verification of any suspicious activities during the festive season to safeguard Thailand’s tourism image.
