Thailand has announced a total of 321 deaths with 1,894 injuries from 1,938 road accidents in seven days from December 27th, 2024 to January 2nd, 2025 of the Ten Dangerous Days New Year Road Campaign from December 27th, 2024 to January 5th, 2025.
The Thai Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM) reported on January 3rd, 2025 that the highest total number of fatalities, injuries and accidents were in Surat Thani with 20 deaths and 82 injuries from 72 accidents.
The DDPM reported details on the seventh day (January 2nd) of the road campaign. There were 43 deaths and 200 injuries in 196 road accidents.
Accidents were mostly caused by excessive speeding (40%). Most accidents involved motorbikes (86%). Forty-four percent of road accidents occurred most on national highways. Most accidents occurred between 6:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M.. (8%).
