Kayak Accidents at Koh Chang: Six Tourists Rescued Safely

Koh Chang —

On January 5th, 2025, Koh Chang Marine Safety Center responded to two consecutive kayak accidents near Koh Yuak and Koh Suwan, off the coast of Koh Chang, Trat.

The first incident occurred at 12:30 PM when four Czech tourists kayaking near Koh Yuak capsized due to strong winds and rough seas. Rescuers quickly brought all four to safety, with one sustaining minor injuries. Initial first aid was provided at the shoreline.

While assisting the first group, officials spotted two Russian tourists struggling against the rough seas near Koh Suwan at 2:30 PM. Rescuers successfully brought them back to shore.

All six tourists were unharmed, with the Czech group transferred to their tour boat and the Russian pair returned to their hotel.

Officials attribute the accidents to unfamiliarity with local waters and unexpected strong winds. They urged tourists to check weather conditions, wear life jackets, and strictly follow safety guidelines when engaging in water activities.
