On January 7th, 2025, Samut Sakhon Immigration Police and related authorities announced the arrest of six Myanmar nationals for allegedly assaulting a Thai man in Mueang District, Samut Sakhon.
According to the police, the suspects (whose names were withheld by the police) were apprehended with two knives, measuring 48 cm and 53 cm in length, used during the attack. They face charges of physical assault causing harm and carrying weapons in public without justification.
The incident occurred on December 22nd, 2024, near a school in Samut Sakhon. The altercation reportedly began at a local music festival when a foot-stepping incident escalated into a drunken brawl. The suspects allegedly ganged up to assault a 28-year-old Thai man, leaving him injured.
Police reviewed CCTV footage, tracked the suspects to their residence, and arrested all six. The case caused public alarm, prompting swift action by authorities to restore confidence and pursue legal proceedings against the offenders.
