58 Myanmar Nationals Apprehended in High-Speed Pursuit in Lopburi

Lopburi —

On January 7th, 2025, Lopburi highway police launched the “Shark Strike” operation, capturing 58 Myanmar nationals who had illegally entered Thailand.

The arrests took place in Sarabodhi district, where authorities intercepted a pickup truck and two vans used to transport the migrants.

Thai authorities had been monitoring the area following reports of recurring migrant smuggling operations. During surveillance, they spotted three to four suspicious vehicles driving at high speed, heavily loaded. Attempts to stop the vehicles led to a pursuit, culminating in the arrest of the migrants.

The detained individuals reportedly admitted to entering the country illegally and were handed over to Phatthana Nikhom Police Station for further legal action. This operation highlights ongoing efforts to combat human smuggling nationwide.
