Health Ministry Unveils Plans to Tackle PM 2.5

PRESS RELEASE:

Minister of Public Health Somsak Thepsuthin has unveiled a set of measures to address the escalating issue of PM 2.5 air pollution, following directives from the Cabinet and the prime minister to reduce the harmful effects of fine particulate matter on public health.

The Emergency Operations Center for Medical and Public Health Services on Haze and Fine Particulate Matter has been instructed to adhere to the Ministry of Public Health’s latest guidelines to ensure effective responses to air pollution. Proactive public awareness campaigns will be strengthened to educate people on protective measures against PM 2.5, with an emphasis on using digital technology to make information widely accessible to all demographics.

Medical teams have been deployed nationwide to assist vulnerable groups, including young children, the elderly, and bedridden patients. Provincial health offices will coordinate with Village Health Volunteers to provide care and support in affected areas. Specialized services are being prioritized for early childhood development centers and elderly care facilities to manage health risks associated with PM 2.5 exposure.

In areas heavily impacted by PM 2.5, public health services are being expanded to ensure residents have access to essential resources. Dust-free rooms, anti-dust canopies, and PM 2.5 clinics are being set up to provide relief and consultations. Online consultation services are also being offered through multiple platforms to improve accessibility for those in need.
