On January 21st, 2025, highway police in Roi Et arrested three Thai nationals for smuggling 15,000 kilograms of pork products, including frozen entrails, illegally imported from China. The contraband, valued at 2 million baht, was seized in Mueang Suang District.
The investigation revealed that the smuggling operation transported the goods from China through Laos, using pickup trucks to evade detection.
The suspects reportedly admitted they were hired to move the goods from Mukdahan to Bangkok but were intercepted on Highway 202 in Roi Et.
The suspects face multiple charges, including unauthorized movement of animal carcasses in disease control zones and smuggling goods without customs clearance. They were handed over to Mueang Suang police for legal action.
