Update: Former Thai Boxing Champion Granted Bail After Sentencing in High-Profile Case

On January 23rd, 2025, the Khon Kaen Provincial Court sentenced former Olympic gold medalist Somluck Kamsing to 2 years, 13 months, and 10 days in prison without suspension for the abduction of a 17-year-old girl in December 2023.

The court also ordered him to pay 170,000 baht in compensation. Later, the court granted Somluck bail for a possible appeal with a surety of 300,000 baht. He reportedly left the courthouse with his lawyer and family members shortly afterward.

In a brief phone interview, Somluck expressed his determination to fight the case, stating, “I will not back down. They demanded 1.8 million baht, but the court ordered 170,000 baht. I will keep fighting.”
