BANGKOK, January 30, 2025 – After 15 months of captivity, five Thai nationals have been released from Hamas in Gaza, announced by the Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The released hostages are identified as:

Sathian Suwannakham
Sriaoun Watchara
Seathao Bannawat
Rumnao Surasak
The Royal Thai Embassy in Tel Aviv confirmed the release, stating that the hostages are currently en route to a hospital for medical treatment. Officials from both the Embassy and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs are on their way to assist and to make immediate contact with the families of the released individuals in Thailand.
In a statement, the Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed its profound gratitude:
“Thailand Welcomes the Release of the Thai Hostages Held in the Gaza Strip. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has received the confirmation from the Royal Thai Embassy in Tel Aviv that 5 (five) Thai hostages have been released today. They are now being transferred to hospital for medical treatment where officials from both the Embassy and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will travel to facilitate and immediately contact their families in Thailand.”
The ministry extended heartfelt congratulations to the families of the released hostages and conveyed deep appreciation to the nations of Qatar, Egypt, Iran, Türkiye, and the United States, along with other friendly countries, the International Committee of the Red Cross, and all parties involved for their significant contributions to this successful outcome. Special thanks were also extended to Israel for their care and facilitation in the return process.
The statement concluded with a plea for the release of all remaining hostages, including another Thai national still held in captivity, urging for their swift and safe return to their families and homeland.
Prime Minister Ing Shin issued a statement expressing immense relief and joy, saying, “Today, we celebrate the return of our five citizens who have endured unimaginable hardship. Their release is a testament to the tireless efforts of our diplomats and allies. We continue to hope and work for the release of all remaining hostages, ensuring every Thai citizen can be reunited with their loved ones.”
