Thai Labor Ministry to Crack Down on Illegal Migrant Workers

National —

The Thai Ministry of Labor has reaffirmed that employers must submit lists of Cambodian and Myanmar workers under the MOU system by February 13th, 2025, with no deadline extensions.

Workers registered by this date will be granted a six-month temporary stay to complete necessary legal procedures, including visa processing and work permit applications.

Meanwhile, Lao and Vietnamese workers with valid work permits expiring on February 13th will be allowed to remain in Thailand for an additional three months. Employers must register their foreign labor needs and submit worker photos via an electronic system within this period.

The ministry also announced a nationwide crackdown on undocumented migrant workers and employers violating labor laws.

Since June 2024, authorities have inspected over 41,000 businesses, checking more than 570,000 migrant workers. Legal action has been taken against 1,596 employers and 3,590 workers, mainly for employing or working without valid permits.

Thai authorities will continue strict enforcement under the “Search, Arrest, Fine, Deport” policy.
