Fatal Bus Crash in Tak Kills 2, Injures 35, Including Foreign Tourists

TAK, February 4th, 2025 – A Bangkok-bound intercity bus from Chiang Mai crashed into a large tree in the median strip of Phahonyothin Road in Wang Chao district, Tak today. The accident killed two people and injured 35, including foreign tourists and bus staff.

The deceased were identified as a 41-year-old female bus attendant, who was found dead in the front passenger seat, and the 65-year-old driver, who was trapped in the wreckage for over 20 minutes. 

Rescue workers had to use hydraulic cutters to free him. He was unresponsive upon extraction, and despite CPR and defibrillation, he was pronounced deceased at Wang Chao Hospital.

Eyewitnesses stated that the bus had been swerving dangerously before veering off the road and crashing into the tree. Authorities are investigating the cause of the accident, including possible driver fatigue or mechanical failure.
