Loei Battles Wildfires and PM2.5: 33 People Arrested, Fined 500 Baht for Illegal Burning

LOEI, February 4th, 2025 – Firefighters and local volunteers in Loei battled a wildfire in Phu Huai Nangiew, Phu Hin Ngon, and Phu Ya Tha for over 30 hours before finally bringing it under control. 

The fire, which spread across steep mountainous terrain in Mueang District, reportedly scorched more than 400 rai of forest and blanketed nearby villages in thick smoke.

Led by Subdistrict mayor Tinkorn Ketkesorn, a team of 30 officials and volunteers hiked into the affected areas, using firebreaks and blowers to stop the spread. 

Meanwhile, Loei Governor Chaipoj Charoonpong reinforced a province-wide burning ban to combat wildfires and PM2.5 pollution. Authorities have already arrested 33 violators, issuing fines ranging from 500 to 1,000 baht.
