Kamphaeng Phet, February 13th, 2025 – Police in Kamphaeng Phet’s Khlong Khlung district discovered three decomposed bodies in a covered pickup truck parked outside an abandoned house near Phahonyothin Road.
The area contained two houses, one raised wooden house, and a single-story concrete house, where the truck was found emitting a foul odor with flies swarming around it, according to the police.
Inside the vehicle, police found the bodies of a mother holding her 7-year-old son in the front passenger seat and the father lying stretched out in the back. All three bodies were severely decomposed. A bullet casing of unknown caliber was recovered from the vehicle, raising suspicions of foul play.
The victims were publicly identified only as Wongsakorn, 37, Nantakan, 35, and their young son, a family that had been missing since January 12th, 2025. The family had operated a clothing business, rented out sound and lighting equipment for events, and provided informal loans.
Their disappearance had prompted social media searches and a missing persons report at Khlong Khlung Police Station.
The discovery was made by a local resident, Opas, 29, who was trapping rats near the area when he noticed the smell. Upon checking the vehicle, he recognized it from online posts and alerted the family, who confirmed it was the missing vehicle and family.
The homeowner where the family was found, Samnao, 59, said the house had been abandoned for 10 years due to frequent flooding, and she last visited after New Year without seeing the vehicle.
A cousin of the deceased, Suphat, 42, said the family had also been involved in a local financial savings group. Despite efforts to trace their whereabouts through CCTV footage and phone records, no leads were found until the grim discovery.
Police forensic teams are collecting evidence as investigators meet to determine the motive and suspects, with initial findings suggesting a triple homicide and body concealment.
