Bangkok Eyes Spot on Formula One Calendar After Dutch Grand Prix Exit

Thailand, March 15th, 2025 — Stefano Domenicali, CEO of Formula One Group, is set to visit Thailand next week to discuss adding a Bangkok Grand Prix to the Formula One calendar, according to Sky Sports.

This follows recent announcements that the Dutch Grand Prix will be dropped after 2026 and the Belgian Grand Prix will rotate starting in 2028.

Domenicali revealed the plan in an interview with Martin Brundle of Sky Sports ahead of the Australian Grand Prix (March 14th–16th) in Melbourne. He described Thailand as a strong contender for a future race, highlighting the importance of expanding F1’s global reach.

F1’s current agreement with teams allows for up to 25 races per season, creating room for a new race without cutting existing events, though drivers may push back against an already packed schedule.

Thailand’s push to host an F1 race gained momentum when former Thai PM Srettha Thavisin attended the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix in May 2024. Domenicali’s visit to Bangkok before the Chinese Grand Prix on March 23rd, 2025, signals that Thailand’s interest remains strong despite changes in government leadership.

F1 is also fielding interest from potential hosts in Europe, Africa, and South America as it seeks to maintain competitive bidding and high standards.
