Thailand, March 18th, 2025 — Pol. Lt. Gen. Panurat Lakboon, Secretary-General of the Narcotics Control Board (ONCB), revealed that a former Thai singer was linked to a drug trafficking network following intelligence from Chinese authorities.
The suspect was publicly identified as Patcharapol Panphum, known as “Zax,” former lead singer of the 90s band I-ZAX.
The investigation began after Chinese authorities arrested a Thai national for drug smuggling. Thai police later arrested a female suspect for distributing crystal meth and other drugs to entertainment venues in Sutthisan and Ratchada, Bangkok. Evidence showed she had purchased drugs from Zax.
A search of Zax’s home uncovered large quantities of yaba (amphetamine), crystal meth (in pink and gold variants), ecstasy, ketamine, and MDMA, along with drug-related equipment.
Zax allegedly used and sold drugs to other celebrities and musicians. Authorities are now expanding the investigation into other entertainment industry figures.
