Thailand, March 18th, 2025 — Jirayu Huangsap, Government Spokesman, announced that Thai PM Paetongtarn Shinawatra met with Stefano Domenicali, CEO of Formula One Group, to explore the possibility of hosting a Formula One (F1) race in Thailand.
This follows initial talks with former Thai PM Srettha Thavisin in 2024, aligning with the government’s goal to position Thailand as a global event destination.
Domenicali highlighted Thailand’s strong motorsport fan base and the economic and tourism benefits of hosting F1. He noted that the event would attract global attention and boost local tourism and infrastructure development.
The Thai government confirmed plans to conduct a comprehensive feasibility study, including potential race locations—such as a street circuit—investment requirements, and the overall financial impact.
The government aims to finalize the plan within the next few years, with hopes of hosting the first F1 race in Thailand by 2028. Domenicali assured that F1 would work closely with Thai authorities to ensure a successful and memorable event that reflects Thailand’s cultural identity and hospitality.
Paetongtarn expressed confidence that hosting F1 would create jobs, attract investment, and introduce new technologies to Thailand, driving the country toward becoming a global hub for major events.
