Thai and South Korean Nationals Caught in High-Stakes Poker Raid in Bangkok

Bangkok, at 11:30 PM on March 21st, 2025 — Thonglor police raided a condominium in Thonglor, Bangkok, arresting nine suspects involved in an illegal poker game — seven South Koreans and two Thais.

Police seized evidence including two decks of cards, poker chips, a cash exchange ledger, four mobile phones, and 50,000 baht in cash.

The raid followed a tip-off about a group of South Korean nationals organizing illegal poker games. Officers arrested Weerawat (last name was withheld by the police), 34, who reportedly admitted to working as a doorman under orders from Chen Yong Sung, 33, a South Korean national who arranged the venue and handled chip exchanges. Hyuna Kang, 30, was identified as the dealer, according to the police.

Chen confessed to organizing the operation, which reportedly handled around 200,000 baht in wagers on its first day.

Weerawat and Chen face charges for organizing illegal gambling, while the other suspects face charges for participating. All have been transferred to Thonglor Police Station for further legal action.
