Thailand, April 2nd, 2025 — Thailand’s earthquake damage assessment center, in collaboration with the Council of Engineers and the Engineering Institute of Thailand, deployed 110 specialists to inspect buildings affected by the March 28 earthquake in Myanmar.
As of April 1st, authorities had inspected 3,375 buildings, classifying 3,130 as safe (green), 211 as moderately damaged (yellow), and 34 as severely damaged and unsafe for use (red).
The inspections covered three categories:
- Public Buildings: Hospitals, schools, and government offices—367 inspected, with three declared unsafe along with one building connector.
- Private Buildings: Condos, malls, and hotels—Bangkok instructed 11,000 owners to conduct inspections; 112 have reported results so far.
- Residential Buildings: Homes and shophouses—15,514 damage reports were filed via the Traffy Fondue platform, with 13,612 cases addressed.
Outside Bangkok, inspections across 76 provinces focused on public buildings, with 3,008 assessed. Of these, 2,796 were deemed safe, 181 had moderate damage, and 31 were deemed structurally unsafe and closed for use.
Authorities, including the Department of Public Works and Town & Country Planning, continue monitoring safety and providing guidance while keeping reporting channels open for public safety concerns.
