Bangkok Taxi Driver Finds Luxury Bags with Cash, Hands Them Over Without Hesitation

Bangkok, April 7th, 2025 — Bangkok taxi driver Narong Phongsamran visited FM91 Traffic Radio to return a black shoulder bag left in his cab, which contained three luxury wallets and a total of 696,000 yen in cash—worth about 164,643 baht—belonging to a Thai passenger.

Narong stated that the passenger had briefly boarded his taxi near Bang Khen roundabout but quickly got out, saying she would take a train instead. Narong continued his shift and discovered the forgotten bag around 11:30 PM when he arrived home in Lam Luk Ka.

Inside were three branded wallets containing large sums of Japanese yen, a Japanese bank book, passport, iPhone, headphones, and cosmetics.

Despite waiting all night for a phone call, no one reached out. So in the morning, Narong took the items to FM91, saying, “It’s not mine—I wouldn’t feel right keeping it. Whether it’s a little or a lot, I’d rather earn my own. I’m sure the owner was just as distressed.”

The owner, Sarawalee, who had returned to Thailand after 10 years in Japan to surprise her parents and celebrate her birthday, said through tears, “I’m so happy. I was bringing money home to help fix my parents’ house in Chiang Mai. Thank you to the taxi driver, the police, and FM91 for getting everything back to me so quickly.”
