Thai National Parks Welcome Over 370,000 Visitors During Songkran Festivities

Thailand, April 15th, 2025 — Thailand’s Department of National Parks, Wildlife and Plant Conservation reported that national parks saw a surge in visitors during the Songkran holidays, with over 376,000 tourists recorded between April 12th–14th.

The highest number—178,647—was recorded on April 14th alone, generating more than 20.1 million baht in revenue.

Top destinations included Tat Ton National Park in Chaiyaphum (21,320 visitors), Khao Yai in Nakhon Ratchasima (19,423), Khao Laem Ya–Mu Ko Samet in Rayong (18,760), Hat Noppharat Thara–Mu Ko Phi Phi in Krabi (18,040), and Erawan in Kanchanaburi (14,901).

Despite free entry for Thai citizens on April 14th, there were 27 reported accidents over the three-day period. On April 14th alone, three major incidents occurred: A foreign tourist collapsed while swimming at Khao Laem Ya–Mu Ko Samet, a tourist was hit and injured by waves while boarding a boat at Mu Ko Similan, and a car accident at Doi Inthanon.

Officials responded promptly, providing medical assistance and hospital transport. The department reaffirmed its commitment to safety and efficient service through the holiday period, ending April 16th.
