Thailand Reports 200 Deaths in Six Days of Songkran So Far in Road Safety Campaign

Thailand –

A total of 1,377 road accidents, with 1,362 injuries and 200 deaths in six days (April 11th – April 16th), were reported Thursday (April 17th) by the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM) during the ‘Seven Days of Road Safety Campaign’ during Songkran (April 11th – April 17th) 2025.

The Province with the highest total amount of fatalities was Bangkok with 16 deaths. The highest number of accidents was Phatthalung with 52, in southern Thailand. The highest number of injured was in Lampang, in northeastern Thailand with 56.

Most accidents were caused by excessive speeding and followed by drunk driving. Most of the accidents involved motorcycles and occurred on highways between 3:01 P.M. to 6:00 P.M.
