Thailand, April 21st, 2025 — The Thai Meteorological Department issued a forecast for April 22nd–27th warning of extreme heat and summer Storms.
During April 22nd–25th, upper Thailand—including the North, Northeast, Central, and East—will see rising temperatures with hot to extremely hot conditions. Although rainfall will decrease, isolated thunderstorms and gusty winds may still occur due to a heat-induced low-pressure system and prevailing southwesterly winds.
From April 26th–27th, summer storms are expected across upper Thailand, bringing thunderstorms, strong winds, hail in some areas, heavy rainfall, and lightning. This is due to the convergence of southeasterly and southwesterly winds over the region, coinciding with ongoing hot weather.
In the South, rainfall is expected to increase between April 23rd–27th, especially in the lower region, where isolated heavy rain is likely. Thunderstorms over the Gulf of Thailand and the Andaman Sea may bring waves exceeding 2 meters, driven by southwesterly winds and a low-pressure system over Malaysia.
The Meteorological Department urges the public in upper Thailand to stay hydrated and avoid prolonged outdoor activities during extreme heat. From April 26th–27th, people in the North and Northeast should watch for hazardous summer storms and avoid staying in open areas, under large trees, or near unstable structures and billboards.
In the South, residents should remain alert to the risk of flash floods and heavy rainfall, while boat operators in both seas are advised to avoid navigating during thunderstorms and in high wave zones.
