A young Thai Doctor will continue to fight and file an appeal after the Phuket Kwaeng Court has dismissed a case involving a Swiss Expat allegedly assaulting a Thai doctor in front of a villa in Paklok, Thalang.

Now for the update:

The incident, which occurred on February 24, 2024, became a highly publicized controversy and went viral internationally. David was accused of physically assaulting Dr. Tharndao, known as “Dr. Pai,” by allegedly kicking her in the back as she sat on the steps of a luxury villa he rented in Yamu Beach. The case sparked widespread criticism of his behavior, leading to protests and demands for justice. David vehemently denied kicking her, saying he slipped, although admitted he could have handled the situation differently. The steps were later destroyed and local officials said they were not actually part of the villa property and were illegally encroaching on the beach.

In the initial trial, the court ruled in favor of David and dismissed the charges. However, Dr. Pai’s legal team, led by prominent lawyer and former Phatthalung MP Nipit Intharasombat, along with the public prosecutor, filed an appeal with the Regional Court of Appeal 8.

On April 21st, 2025, the court was set to announce its verdict, but David failed to attend the hearing. In response, the Phuket Provincial Court issued an arrest warrant and rescheduled the ruling for May 23th, 2025, at 9:00 A.M..

Beyond the assault allegations, investigations into David’s activities uncovered additional concerns. Authorities found him in possession of firearms and noted other questionable behavior, prompting immigration officials to review his status. Although there have been discussions regarding revoking his visa, legal proceedings must conclude before any deportation measures can be taken.

This case continues to draw public interest, particularly regarding the accountability of foreign nationals in Thailand. Authorities have urged the public to remain cautious when discussing legal matters online, as the situation remains sensitive.

The next court session in May will likely determine the legal fate of David and whether further actions, including deportation, will follow. However, some speculation online has stated that David may have left Thailand, although not confirmed, out of concern of a possible guilty verdict and legal repercussions in the appeal.
