Eight People Dead, Including Children, in SUV Crash on Motorway to Chonburi

Thailand, at 11:00 PM April 25th, 2025 — Rescue workers from the Ruamkatanyu Foundation responded to a fatal crash on Motorway Route 7, outbound towards Chonburi. Eight people were found dead at the scene and two others were seriously injured.

The collision involved a trailer truck that rear-ended an SUV, crushing it completely. A nearby oil tanker was also hit and sustained damage. Rescue teams used hydraulic cutters to retrieve the bodies, which included both children and adults. The injured were rushed to a nearby hospital.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the SUV, carrying 10 people heading to visit relatives in Rayong, had pulled over in the far-left emergency lane to allow a passenger to change a baby’s diaper. It was then struck at high speed by the trailer truck driver, with drowsy driving suspected, according to the police.

Police are reviewing CCTV footage and continuing their investigation to determine the exact cause and pursue legal action.
