Sa Kaeo, Thailand – The 1st Army Region has ordered an immediate suspension of all border crossings in Sa Kaeo province, effective today, June 23, 2025, due to escalating tensions with Cambodia and rising transnational crime. Signed by First Army Region Commander Lt Gen Amarit Boonsuya, the directive will remain in force until further notice.
The decision follows reports of Cambodian military forces violating Thai sovereignty by conducting patrols, reinforcing positions, modifying terrain, and leading civilians in symbolic activities along the border within areas under the 2nd Army Region. These actions have heightened tensions and raised concerns over public safety.
Additionally, the 1st Army Region cited the growing threat of transnational crimes, such as call center gangs and hybrid scams, which have caused significant harm to people and property.
The suspension affects all major border checkpoints in Sa Kaeo, including the Aranyaprathet-Poipet crossing, a key route for trade and tourism, as well as the Ban Khao Din-Ban Laem and Ban Nong Ian-Stung Bot checkpoints. All vehicle crossings and movement of individuals, including Thai and foreign tourists, and trade activities are prohibited. Exceptions will be granted for urgent humanitarian needs, such as medical emergencies, patient transfers, and essential education for students.

Thai authorities urge residents and travelers to comply with the restrictions and monitor updates as the situation develops.
