Phang Nga-
Phang Nga authorities confirmed the province remains secure after a suspicious object resembling an artificial stone was discovered and safely deactivated in front of the Governor’s residence.
Responding to heightened security concerns in the South, the Phang Nga Governor ordered immediate escalation of surveillance measures throughout the province. Police, administrative officers, and local territorial defense volunteers (Or Sor) intensified patrols at key locations—including communities, tourist attractions, and government buildings.
The object, which was found by local police and Or Sor units, was later determined to contain an active explosive circuit with a dangerous radius of up to 10 meters. Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) teams were quickly deployed and successfully disabled the device without incident. It has since been sent to the Central Forensic Science Division for in-depth analysis.
Pol. Col. Weerapong Rakkito, Chief of Muang Phang Nga Police Station, credited information from a key suspect for leading officers directly to the object’s location. Authorities conducted a thorough sweep of the area, working swiftly to prevent potential harm.
In a follow-up order, the Governor instructed a province-wide sweep of all public spaces, tourist hotspots, and government premises, urging inter-agency cooperation and continuous community patrols to maintain security vigilance.
