Bangkok, Thailand – On July 17th, 2025, at 1:00 PM, Chonburi Governor Mr. Thawatchai Srithong, accompanied by Deputy Provincial Police Commander Colonel Chatree Suksiri, attended the launch of a nationwide anti-drug operation under the theme “No Drugs No Dealers” at the Mukhawan Rangsan Room, Army Club, in Bangkok. The ceremony was presided over by Deputy Prime Minister and Acting Prime Minister Mr. Phumtham Wechayachai, who also serves as the Minister of Interior.

The event saw participation from key figures across various sectors, including Mr. Phrommin Lertsuriyadet, Secretary to the Prime Minister; Colonel Tawee Sodsong, Minister of Justice; Mr. Somsak Thepsutin, Minister of Public Health; Mr. Anusit Samphantharat, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior; General Kittirat Phanphet, National Police Chief; General Phana Klaewplodthuk, Army Commander; and Lieutenant General Phanurat Lakboon, Secretary-General of the Office of the Narcotics Control Board (ONCB). Governors from all provinces, senior government officials, and relevant authorities were also in attendance, uniting to demonstrate a collective resolve to combat drug issues.

In his address, Mr. Phumtham stated the government’s urgent commitment to eradicating the drug problem, directing the Ministry of Interior to conduct a comprehensive “Re X-Ray” operation in every village and community across Thailand, including Bangkok, to identify high-risk areas and take decisive action. He also instructed the National Police Agency to intensify efforts to crack down on small-scale drug dealers and the masterminds behind them, aiming to eliminate drugs from communities entirely.

During the ceremony, the Governor of Bangkok, along with the governors of all 76 provinces, the Bangkok Metropolitan Police Commissioner, and provincial police commanders, signed the “Declaration of Unity to Combat the Drug Problem.” The declaration outlined three key commitments:

1. Strictly enforce laws and decisively suppress drug dealers in all areas.
2. Prevent the spread of drugs, ensuring no dealers or users remain in villages and communities.
3. Strengthen communities with sustainable systems and mechanisms to manage drug issues independently.
The government has declared the drug problem a national priority, with the “No Drugs No Dealers” operation serving as a proactive measure to enhance public safety. Progress will be closely monitored and evaluated by all relevant sectors to ensure every area in Thailand moves toward becoming truly drug-free.
Chonburi Governor Mr. Thawatchai Srithong expressed his commitment to implementing these guidelines in Chonburi, vowing to work with all sectors to make the province sustainably drug-free.
