Royal Thai Army Rejects Cambodias Chemical Weapons Allegations, Labels Claims as Fake News

BANGKOK, July 28th, 2025 – The Royal Thai Army has vehemently denied accusations from Cambodia alleging the use of chemical weapons in a recent attack, dismissing the claims as “fake news.” Thai military officials have refuted the allegations, asserting that the evidence presented by Cambodia’s military is misleading and misrepresents the facts.

Cambodia’s military recently released photographs purportedly showing the aftermath of a chemical weapons attack. However, the Royal Thai Army has countered that these images are actually from a wildfire in California that occurred in January 2025, and have no connection to any military operations involving Thailand.

In a statement issued on Monday, a spokesperson for the Royal Thai Army condemned the accusations as a deliberate attempt to spread misinformation. “These claims are baseless and fabricated. The photos circulated by Cambodian authorities are clearly from an unrelated incident in California, not from any actions involving Thai forces,” the spokesperson said.

The Thai military has called for an end to the spread of false information and urged international observers to verify the origins of the images. The statement also reaffirmed Thailand’s commitment to adhering to international laws and conventions regarding the use of weapons in conflicts.

Tensions between Thailand and Cambodia have periodically flared over border disputes, but this latest accusation marks a further escalation in rhetoric. The Royal Thai Army has indicated it is open to dialogue to address the issue and prevent further misunderstandings.

As of now, Cambodian authorities have not responded to Thailand’s rebuttal. The situation remains under close scrutiny as both nations navigate the diplomatic fallout from the controversy.
