Bangkok, August 3rd, 2025 – The Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM) reported that persistent flooding is affecting four northern provinces—Nan, Chiang Rai, Sukhothai, and Phitsanulok. The floods have impacted 8 districts, 19 subdistricts, and 52 villages, with over 3,100 households and approximately 11,700 people still grappling with the effects. While water levels are receding in Nan, Chiang Rai, and Sukhothai, they continue to rise in Phitsanulok, raising concerns for local communities.
The flooding, triggered by Tropical Storm Wipha on July 21, has affected 12 provinces and more than 233,000 people across 74 districts. The disaster has claimed six lives, according to DDPM reports.
Deputy DDPM chief Saharat Wongsakulwiwat stated that conditions are improving in most areas, but response teams remain on high alert. “We are working closely with local authorities, military, police, and volunteers to provide relief supplies, clear debris, and repair damaged homes and infrastructure,” he said.
Efforts are also underway to assess damages and provide compensation to affected families, including those who have lost loved ones, in line with government guidelines. Authorities are prioritizing rapid recovery to restore normalcy in the flood-stricken regions.
