Unauthorized Drone Flying Major Concern in Thailand Due to Ongoing Cambodia and Thailand Border Tensions

The Royal Thai Air Force has detected attempts to use drones to survey military installations and numerous government facilities in key areas of Thailand, which is considered a serious threat indicating potential espionage aimed at carrying out actions harmful to military infrastructure and possibly civilian infrastructure as well.

Military personnel and assigned security agencies are authorized to use Anti-Drone systems to immediately neutralize targets. Offenders will face charges of espionage or spying, which threatens the kingdom’s security, with severe penalties including life imprisonment or the death penalty.

Currently, the conflict situation between Thailand and Cambodia remains under close watch. Drones pose a serious threat with significant impacts on national security and civilian lives. The Royal Thai Air Force therefore requests cooperation from all citizens who spot or have information regarding drone activities, including operators who may be violating the law, to report to the national security hotline 1374 or nearby government agencies, available 24 hours a day.
