Body Found Weighted Down in Phang Nga Canal Identified and Linked to Patong

Phang Nga –

Authorities in southern Thailand have made significant progress in a disturbing murder case involving a woman whose body was discovered floating near a fish cage in Phang Nga.

Our previous story:

Authorities in Takua Thung District are investigating a disturbing discovery after the body of an unidentified woman was found floating in Tha Yai Canal, bound with chains and concrete dumbbells in what appears to be a deliberate attempt to conceal the corpse.

Now for the update:

After a joint investigation by Phang Nga Provincial Police and Kokkloi Police Station, authorities identified the victim as Ms. Kantsiri, a 51-year-old woman originally from Thailand’s northeastern region.

Surveillance footage helped trace her final movements, revealing that she had been taken from a residence on the “50 Pi Hill” in Patong, Phuket.

According to police, the suspect transported the victim’s body in a pickup truck from the hillside home in Phuket to Ban Thanun in Phang Nga, where she was dumped in the canal. After disposing of the body, the suspect reportedly returned to Phuket, where he is believed to still be hiding.

The alleged perpetrator is a 21-year-old man whose identity has not yet been publicly released. Investigators from both Phang Nga and Phuket are actively searching for him and have begun examining the Patong residence for signs of a struggle or evidence of murder.

Police are working to determine the motive behind the killing and whether others may have been involved. The case has drawn public attention due to its brutality and the calculated effort to conceal the body. Authorities urge anyone with information to come forward as the search intensifies across Phuket.

This is a developing story.
