The Royal Thai Armed Forces has escorted an Interim Observer Team (IOT) of representatives from eight ASEAN countries to Sisaket province to assess reports of ceasefire violations along the Thai–Cambodian border. The visit, coordinated by the Directorate of Intelligence, took place at the Pha Mo E Dang area of Kantharalak district, a vantage point overlooking disputed territory.
The delegation was received by the Deputy Commander of Task Force 1, together with officials from Preah Vihear National Park. The group toured areas affected by past clashes and received briefings on current security conditions, including activity around Preah Vihear, Chong Ta Tao, and Satta Som.
Thai officials reported that on August 9, three soldiers from the 11th Infantry Battalion were wounded by landmines while patrolling near the Chong Don Aow–Krissana Base area. Additional mines were later uncovered, prompting clearance operations by the 2nd Military Operations Unit. From August 13 onward, troops cleared 20 Type 72 landmines along with other unexploded ordnance in the Phu Makhua–Chong Don Aow area.
The Royal Thai Armed Forces also reported ongoing incursions, including 77 cases of Cambodian drones entering Thai airspace in the Preah Vihear–Phu Makhua sector. Since the July 28 ceasefire agreement, surveillance has recorded 194 cross-border vehicle movements involving motorcycles, pickup trucks, and larger transport vehicles.
As part of the mission, the observer team visited Krissana Base to review the site of newly laid PMN-2 landmines that injured Thai soldiers earlier this month. They also inspected Prab Suk Base, where Thai authorities presented landmines and explosive devices said to have been seized from Cambodian forces.
