BANGKOK, Aug. 21st, 2025 — A 5.4-magnitude earthquake struck near the southern coast of Myanmar on Thursday morning, with tremors felt across several parts of Bangkok, Thailand, according to local authorities. This followed a 5.0 earthquake near the same location overnight.

The quake was centered off Myanmar’s southern coastline, causing no immediate reports of damage or injuries in either Myanmar or Thailand. Residents in Bangkok reported mild shaking in various districts, prompting brief concern and some skyscrapers to temporarily evacuate but no widespread panic.

Seismologists are monitoring the region for potential aftershocks, and authorities have advised residents to stay alert. The event serves as a reminder of the region’s seismic activity, with Myanmar and surrounding areas located near active tectonic zones.
