Bangkok, December 8th, 2025– The Thai Meteorological Department has forecast a noticeable drop in temperatures across upper Thailand today, with colder conditions and stronger winds expected as a moderate cold air mass from China extends over the region.
Northern and northeastern Thailand will experience cool to cold weather, with temperatures set to fall by 1–3°C. Mornings in the central region, including Bangkok and surrounding areas, the east, and upper southern Thailand will feel distinctly cooler, accompanied by gusty winds.
The public is advised to take care of their health due to the sudden change in weather and to remain vigilant against fire risks, as dry conditions combined with stronger winds could increase the likelihood of wildfires or accidental blazes.
The cooler spell is being driven by a new wave of moderate high-pressure system originating from China, which has already covered northern Vietnam and northern Laos. It is expected to fully cover upper Thailand and the South China Sea today (8 December).

In the south, rainfall remains light overall, though isolated thunderstorms are still possible in some areas. The northeast monsoon continues to blow over the Gulf of Thailand, the southern region, and the Andaman Sea.
Wave conditions in the Gulf of Thailand are moderate, with waves of about 2 metres in the lower Gulf and 1–2 metres in the upper Gulf. In areas with thunderstorms, waves may exceed 2 metres. Mariners are urged to exercise caution and avoid sailing in thunderstorm-affected zones.
Air quality across upper Thailand is currently fair, with low to moderate accumulation of dust and smoke, thanks to stronger winds helping to disperse pollutants.
