New Year Holiday Road Accidents in Thailand Claim 207 Lives in Five Days

Thailand’s annual New Year holiday has once again been marred by tragic road accidents. Over the first five days of the “seven dangerous days” of travel (December 30, 2025 – January 3rd, 2026), authorities recorded 1,185 accidents nationwide, leaving 1,141 people injured and 207 dead.

Phuket reported the highest number of accidents (47) and injuries (51). Bangkok recorded the highest death toll, with 18 fatalities. Authorities pointed to speeding and drunk driving as the leading risk behaviors.
