UPDATE: Italian-Thai Company Issues Condolences After Fatal Crane Collapse on Passenger Train in Korat

Italian-Thai Development Public Company Limited has issued a formal statement expressing its deepest condolences following the tragic crane collapse that struck a passenger train in Si Khio District, Nakhon Ratchasima.

As of sunset on January 14th, 2026, at least 32 people had died and 64 were injured in the accident, with at least three people still missing.

In its announcement, the company conveyed “profound sorrow” for the loss of life and the injuries sustained. It pledged full responsibility and committed to providing compensation and assistance to the families of those who died, as well as covering medical treatment for the injured.

“Italian-Thai Development Public Company Limited extends its heartfelt condolences to all those affected by this tragic incident. The company will take full responsibility in offering compensation and medical support to victims and their families,” the statement read.

The company also stated its readiness to cooperate with government agencies and emergency responders to restore normalcy as quickly as possible.

Meanwhile, the Chinese embassy also issued its condolences but also made it clear that no Chinese company was involved in the construction area where the accident took place.

At least two foreign nationals were killed in the accident, one German and one unknown.

Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul also visited the site yesterday and promised a thorough investigation.
