Phuket-
Phuket International Airport has stepped up health surveillance measures following reports of Nipah virus outbreaks in West Bengal, India.

At 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday (January 28th), Captain Pokpong Suwannamolee, Deputy Director of Suvarnabhumi Airport for Business Support and Acting Director of Phuket International Airport, led senior airport executives in monitoring the implementation of strict public health protocols.

The measures included passenger screening for IndiGo flight 6E1087, arriving from Kolkata (CCU) with 133 passengers. Screening was conducted at Gate 15 of the international terminal in close coordination with the International Communicable Disease Control checkpoint and other relevant agencies.

Authorities explained that the procedures, ranging from passenger health checks to hygiene monitoring within the terminal, are designed to prevent the spread of infectious diseases, safeguard public health, and reinforce confidence among travelers.

Airport officials stressed that vigilance and cooperation remain key to ensuring passenger safety and maintaining Phuket’s reputation as a secure and welcoming gateway for international visitors.
