Pattaya-
On February 1st, 2026, police in Chonburi Province discovered the remains of a 30-year-old Russian national who they say had been brutally murdered and dismembered. His body parts were buried separately at five different spots along the edge of a pond in Soi Phatthanakan 4 in Pattaya.
The victim, believed by Thai police to be Mr. Mikhail Emelianov, had been missing under mysterious circumstances for over 23 days, who we had reported on previously after police asked the public for assistance. His mother had traveled from Russia to Thailand to file a missing person report, which prompted the investigation.
During the probe, authorities uncovered threatening chat messages demanding repayment of a debt exceeding $120,000 USD. Police believe the motive is linked to this unpaid debt, reportedly tied to a cannabis business partnership that fell sour.
An unidentified foreign national suspect has already been detained and is currently under interrogation. Officers are actively working to identify and apprehend any additional accomplices, including both Thai and foreign individuals possibly involved.
