Bangkok has been ranked the Best City in Asia for 2026 in the Readers’ Choice Awards by DestinAsian magazine, surpassing major regional destinations including Tokyo and Singapore. The recognition underscores the strong appeal of Thailand’s capital among international travelers.
The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration said the ranking highlights the city’s distinctive character, in which historic temples and cultural traditions coexist alongside modern skyscrapers and urban lifestyles. This combination creates a city atmosphere that blends heritage with contemporary development.
Bangkok is also widely known for its food culture, offering a broad range of dining experiences from world-famous street food to high-end restaurants. Visitors are also drawn to the city’s variety of attractions, including luxury hotels, nightlife, art districts, and entertainment venues that cater to different interests.
City officials said the award reaffirms continued confidence among travelers worldwide and encourages further efforts to improve Bangkok as both a global travel destination and a livable city for residents, while advancing long-term urban development.
