Myanmar Mother Arrested on Koh Larn After Allegedly Strangling 7-Year-Old Daughter in Bangkok

Pattaya, Chonburi – Thai police from three units coordinated a swift operation to arrest a Myanmar woman accused of murdering her own 7-year-old daughter by strangling her with a rope in Min Buri, Bangkok, before fleeing to hide on Koh Larn island off Pattaya.

The suspect, identified as Myo Pa Pa Tun, a Myanmar national, was apprehended on April 2nd, 2026, at a resort on Koh Larn.

The arrest was carried out by a joint team including Tourist Police from Pattaya, investigators from the Metropolitan Police Bureau Division 3, and local officers from Pattaya City Police Station.

The operation followed intelligence that the suspect had crossed from Pattaya mainland by boat at the Bali Hai Pier on April 1st and checked into the resort, believing the island location would make her difficult to trace.

The tragic incident came to light on the evening of March 31st, 2026, when the child’s 50-year-old grandmother, Nan Tun, also a Myanmar national, reported to Min Buri Police Station that her granddaughter, Zuu Waddy Tun, aged 7, had died under unclear circumstances at Sinphaet Serirak Hospital on Serithai Road, Min Buri district, Bangkok.

Police, led by the superintendent of Min Buri Police Station, along with forensic officers, examined the scene at Ramkhamhaeng 190 Soi 5, Min Buri. Evidence, including marks on the child’s neck, led investigators to conclude that the girl had been strangled with a rope, causing asphyxiation and death.

The mother, Myo Pa Pa Tun, had reportedly left the house earlier that afternoon around 3:00 p.m., telling the grandmother she had errands to run. She allegedly committed the act around 2:00 p.m. before fleeing. She left her mobile phone behind at the scene but took a bag of clothes and her passport.

Following the discovery, Min Buri investigators coordinated with Pattaya Tourist Police and Pattaya City Police to track the suspect. An arrest warrant was issued by the Min Buri Criminal Court on charges of intentional murder.

After her arrest on Koh Larn, the suspect was brought back to the mainland and transferred to Bangkok for further interrogation and legal proceedings at Min Buri Police Station.

The suspect reportedly has confessed to the crime, citing severe depression and anxiety, said Min Buri police.

The case has shocked the public due to its brutal nature involving a mother and her young child. Authorities continue to gather evidence, including forensic results, while the child’s body has undergone examination to confirm the cause of death.
