Thai immigration police have successfully apprehended a Swedish national identified as the leader of a notorious Nordic crime syndicate, ending his attempt to evade justice by hiding in Phuket.
The Phuket Immigration told the Phuket Express that the suspect, described as highly dangerous, was wanted under an Interpol Red Notice for serious offenses including drug trafficking, firearms violations, and murder. His most significant case stems from a 2020 shooting in Östa, Sweden, which led to the international warrant.
Authorities from Immigration Division 6 coordinated closely with Phuket police and Nordic law enforcement agencies after receiving intelligence that the fugitive was residing in a luxury condominium on the island.
At approximately midday on April 9th, officers raided the property and arrested the suspect inside his apartment. Investigations revealed he had entered Thailand earlier this year on a tourist visa and had overstayed by six days.
He now faces charges under Thai law for overstaying his visa, while preparations are underway to extradite him to Sweden, where he will stand trial for the serious crimes linked to his gang’s operations.
