A dramatic accident occurred on Saturday evening, April 25th, 2026, when a luxury BMW sedan plowed through the glass entrance of a well-known KFC fried chicken restaurant located inside a Bangchak petrol station in Soi Sukhumvit 62.
Rescue workers from the Ruam Katanyu Foundation were dispatched around 7:50–8:09 p.m. after receiving reports of the incident. The car reportedly crashed through the front glass doors and came to a stop inside the restaurant near the counter area, causing structural damage estimated at over 70% in some reports.
Initial reports indicated around 6 injured individuals, primarily KFC staff, customers, and food delivery riders. Later updates from on-scene investigations raised the total to as many as 12 people injured (6 male, 6 female), including 5 customers, 4 employees, and 2 delivery riders. One rider was reportedly pinned against a table and required rescue tools to be freed. All injured were transported to nearby hospitals for treatment.
The driver was identified as a 36-year-old Chinese national. According to police from Phra Khanong Police Station, he had entered the station to refuel and was waiting in the third position at pump lane 5. He allegedly accelerated to cut in front of other vehicles, possibly because his fuel cap was on the right side of the car, lost control, and veered into the restaurant.
Authorities are reviewing CCTV footage from the station to determine the exact cause and sequence of events. The driver has been detained for questioning. No immediate confirmation was available regarding impairment, though some accounts mentioned symptoms resembling intoxication that are still under investigation.
The incident caused a stir on Thai social media, with the headline “Why did it go in!” reflecting public shock at the car entering the shop. The KFC outlet sustained heavy damage and was temporarily closed following the crash.
