According to the department, the storm system will initially strike the North, Northeast, and East before progressing into the Central region. Residents should prepare for thunderstorms, gusty winds, hail, and pockets of heavy rainfall, with lightning strikes possible in affected areas.
The volatile weather is the result of a high-pressure air mass originating from China that is extending over the Northeast and the South China Sea. This cooler system is colliding with the hot to very hot conditions currently dominating much of upper Thailand, creating ideal conditions for severe weather.
Local authorities are urging the public to take precautions as the storm approaches. People are advised to stay away from open fields, large trees, and weak or unstable structures during periods of strong winds and lightning. Farmers have been specifically cautioned to reinforce crop protection measures and safeguard livestock to minimize potential losses from hail, heavy rain, or wind damage.
The department is expected to provide updated forecasts and more detailed regional warnings on April 28.
