A foreign couple was safely rescued after becoming stranded during a guided kayaking trip in the mangrove-lined Tha Len canal (Ao Thalane) in Krabi province on Saturday evening, according to local reports and the tour guide involved.
The incident occurred in the popular eco-tourism area known for its scenic mangrove forests, tidal waterways, and limestone karsts. Ao Thalane is a well-known spot for kayaking tours that show Thailand’s natural beauty, but it features strong tidal influences that require careful timing.
According to the tour guide, the couple began arguing during the outbound paddle and continued paddling ahead without heeding the pre-trip safety briefing on tide schedules and route limits. It was unclear if they misunderstood the instructions (possibly due to language barriers) or simply ignored them amid their disagreement.
