At Least Six People Dead After Cargo Train Collides with Public Bus in Bangkok

Bangkok, Thailand – May 16, 2026

A cargo train collided with a public bus near the Makkasan railway crossing on Asok-Din Daeng Road, between the Rama IX and Asok Phet intersections, triggering a fierce blaze this afternoon.

The crash, reported around 3:42 PM local time, also involved multiple cars and motorcycles. Thick smoke and flames engulfed vehicles at the scene close to the Airport Rail Link Makkasan station, with explosions heard as firefighters and emergency teams rushed to the area.

At least six people are reported dead, according to initial updates from traffic authorities. Several others sustained injuries and were transported to nearby hospitals. The exact total number of casualties has not yet been officially confirmed.

FM91 Trafficpro first broke the news, with photos circulating from the scene. Authorities are investigating the cause of the collision, and traffic in the busy central Bangkok area remains heavily disrupted. Motorists have been advised to avoid the route.
