Thai Prime Minister Visits Scene of Deadly Train-Bus Collision in Bangkok

Bangkok– Thai Prime Minister and Interior Minister Anutin Charnvirakul arrived at the scene of a freight train collision with a public bus at approximately 10:00 PM on Saturday, inspecting the crash site near Makkasan Airport Rail Link Station.

The accident involved a freight train striking Bus Line 206. Upon arrival, the Prime Minister spoke with forensic officers from the police forensics unit who were gathering evidence at the site.

He then proceeded to the relief coordination tent set up in the Ratchathewi district, which serves as a central point for compiling lists of the injured and coordinating assistance for victims.

In a statement to the media, Prime Minister Anutin said he had issued strict orders to ensure the injured receive the fullest possible medical care and that it would be covered financially by relevant parties. He explained the need to expedite the identification of the deceased and to provide maximum compensation and support to both the injured and the families of the victims.

“I have the same question as every member of the public,” Anutin remarked. “Why was there no warning that a vehicle was straddling the railway tracks? The train appeared not to have slowed down before the impact. This is something that must be urgently investigated. However, at this moment, our priority is to focus on saving the lives of the injured. For those who have passed away, we must return their bodies to their families as quickly as possible so they can perform funeral rites.”

The full extent of casualties has not yet been officially confirmed, and authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the collision.
