Thai PM Anutin Charnvirakul Hosts FBI Director Kash Patel in Push for Stronger Anti-Crime Cooperation With USA

Bangkok – Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul welcomed FBI Director Kash Patel to Government House to advance intelligence-sharing efforts and joint operations targeting transnational crime, with a particular focus on dismantling online scam networks and cross-border criminal syndicates.

The high-level meeting shows Thailand’s commitment to confronting sophisticated criminal enterprises that operate across borders. Anutin described the battle against transnational crime as a top national priority, discussing recent Thai operations that have resulted in the seizure and freezing of criminal assets valued at tens of billions of baht. He urged deeper teamwork with international partners like the US to stay ahead of increasingly tech-savvy criminal organizations.

“Transnational crime respects no borders, and neither should our response,” Anutin said during the discussions, according to officials present. He expressed the need for enhanced coordination to disrupt financial flows and operational networks fueling these illegal activities.

Director Patel praised Thailand’s strides in combating scam syndicates, narcotics trafficking, and human trafficking. He expressed appreciation for the strong partnership between the FBI and the Royal Thai Police, noting the agencies’ effective work on multiple fronts.

Patel also commended Thailand for co-hosting the Summit for the Scam Centers in Bangkok this week, describing it as an important multilateral platform for addressing the global rise in digital fraud and organized cyber-enabled crime.

The visit comes amid growing regional concerns over scam operations that have defrauded victims worldwide, often using sophisticated call-center networks based in Southeast Asia. Both sides expressed optimism that expanded intelligence sharing and coordinated law enforcement actions will yield further tangible results in the coming months.
